Smart City Beautiful – New Initiatives Coming to Orlando

Digital Education Programming Presented by the
Center for Health & Wellbeing

An autonomous shuttle in Lake Nona. Electric vehicles in downtown Orlando. All part of smart city initiatives, Orlando is offering more and more transportation and technological options for its citizens. In recent years, Orlando has joined the nation as a smart city, a term for a city that uses technology to provide services and solve city problems, like improving transportation and accessibility, promoting sustainability and giving its citizens a voice. Last year, the city launched Orlando.gov, its “digital city hall,” which brought more services to the web and reduced clicks a resident needed to complete a task.

In this virtual talk, Dr. David Metcalf interviews Chris Castro, senior advisor to Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and an inspiring leader in the community who is responsible for many of the incredible green initiatives that connect your health to the health of the smart city movement. You’ll hear the latest news and updates on what you can expect in the Greater Orlando area and how Orlando is leading the nation in many areas of smart city, environmental and health initiatives.

By participating in this program, you can expect to:

  • learn about the smart city, environmental and health initiatives that Orlando is leading the nation in;
  • see sneak previews of the technological and sustainability services coming to your community;
  • learn how you can get involved.

This program is presented by Dr. David Metcalf and Chris Castro and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation.
