According to studies, nearly half of Americans have some form of heart condition. Though many suffer with heart issues, those who overcome the odds and improve their heart health have stories that reveal strength and determination in the face of adversity. Hear the incredible story of Dr. David Metcalf, director of UCF’s Mixed Emerging Technology Integration Lab, and how he fully recovered from a serious heart condition. Learn how he used a combination of medical care, lifestyle modification and supporting technology to improve his heart health. In this webinar, Dr. Metcalf was joined by a special guest cardiologist who shared heart-smart ways to keep you healthy. You’ll also discover current and future tools and techniques that support your heart’s health. Even if you do not have heart issues, this session provides you with heart-smart ways to keep you healthy.

About Your Program Presenter
Dr. David Metcalf is director of the Mixed Emerging Technology Integration Lab (METIL) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) Institute for Simulation and Training in Orlando, FL. Dr. Metcalf has a 15-year history in web-based and mobile learning. He focuses on bridging the gap between corporate learning, simulation techniques and the use of technology to improve human performance. His team at METIL has built mHealth solutions, simulations, games, eLearning, mobile and enterprise IT systems for Google, J&J, VA, U.S. military and UCF’s College of Medicine among others. Recent projects include Lake Nona’s Intelligent Home and transmedia, adaptive learning projects using mobile, AR and sims. Dr. Metcalf encourages spinoffs from the lab as part of the innovation process and has launched Merging Traffic and several other for-profit and nonprofit ventures as examples. In addition to research and commercial investments, he supports social entrepreneurship in education and health.
