The Wellbeing Network
Wellbeing. It’s something we all desire – for ourselves, our partners, our children and grandchildren, our friends. Yet it’s something we often find illusive, overwhelming, too time-consuming, or even inaccessible. We may wonder, “What can I do to feel better? What can I do to help myself and my loved ones be as vital, energetic, and positive as possible throughout life, even in challenging times?”
Finding answers to these questions has been at the heart of the Winter Park Health Foundation (WPHF) since its inception in 1994. Created with a focus on improving the health of people in the communities of Winter Park, Eatonville, and Maitland, the Foundation has supported myriads of programs in schools, community centers, parks, senior centers and residential complexes, faith communities, health facilities and more – all directed at helping educate and inspire people to choose a healthier way of living.
Now, the Foundation has made two new and exciting, community-changing (and hopefully, life-changing) investments to improve the health and quality of life for people in Winter Park, Maitland, Eatonville and beyond.
The first is the Center for Health & Wellbeing currently under construction on 4.2 acres across from Winter Park Memorial Hospital and the City’s Ward Park. The nearly 80,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art center, slated for a late 2018 opening, is a partnership between WPHF and Florida Hospital. The beautiful building will include a new home for the Peggy & Philip B. Crosby Wellness Center surrounded by other opportunities for wellness, fitness, and medical services – all under one roof.
The second investment is the Wellbeing Network, which is being launched in collaboration with Growing Bolder as an online, go-to resource for education, motivation, and real-life stories featuring the seven dimensions of wellbeing: those integral parts of our mind, body, and spirit that form the very essence of our wellbeing, and need life-long nurturing. These dimensions, each identified and studied by leading national and international health and wellness organizations supported by extensive research, will serve as the basis and framework for programs provided at the Center for Health & Wellbeing. The Wellbeing Network is a way for the community at large to access resources, education and information offered at the Center for Health & Wellbeing. The hope is that you and your family and friends will visit the Center and actively participate in its programs, but if you cannot, the Wellbeing Network will be available to you as an invaluable resource.
